Lecsy (“the Service”) is a lecture recording and AI study application built for international students. It provides real-time English transcription powered by high-accuracy cloud transcription, AI-powered summaries (which can be generated in your native language) and study guides powered by OpenAI, and cross-device transcript sync via Supabase. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Recording and transcription work without an account. To use cloud sync, AI summaries, Exam Mode, and web access, you must sign in with Apple ID, Google, or Magic Link. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
Lecsy is free to download. The core Free tier — lecture recording, on-device English transcription, and AI Study Guide — requires no payment and no subscription, and remains available indefinitely.
Optional paid plans are offered under two paths:
The Free tier always remains available — paid plans are optional. Subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are billed through Apple In-App Purchase and managed by Apple; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and refunds are handled under Apple's policy. (Any legacy web subscriptions are billed through Stripe and managed from Settings → Manage Subscription.)
By using the Service, you acknowledge the following data processing:
For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
You agree not to:
Recording consent is your responsibility. Recording laws vary by location — some U.S. states and many countries require the consent of everyone being recorded, and your school or institution may have its own policy on recording lectures. You are solely responsible for obtaining any consent that is required and for complying with all applicable laws and institutional rules before you record. Lecsy provides the recording tool only; it does not obtain consent on your behalf.
Lecsy is built to help you understand and study your own lectures. Please use it that way. The points below are practical guidance based on how U.S. schools commonly treat in-class recording — they are not legal advice, and rules differ by school and by state, so when in doubt, ask your instructor or your school and consult a lawyer.
When you use Lecsy in class, you agree to follow these principles:
Why this matters: publishing or disseminating class recordings can carry real legal consequences. For example, the University of Florida warns that students who publish or disseminate course recordings may face civil liability of up to $200,000 (see UF's in-class recording policy). Keeping your recordings private protects you — and it is the only way Lecsy is meant to be used.
The Service and all related content (software, design, text, graphics) are owned by us. Content you create (recordings, transcripts, notes) belongs to you. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide the Service.
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Transcription accuracy is not guaranteed — always verify important content against the original audio. AI-generated summaries and exam questions are for study assistance only and may contain errors. They are not a certified record and must not be relied upon as a substitute for the original lecture, official course materials, or professional, legal, medical, or academic advice. You are responsible for verifying any information before relying on it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lecsy and its developer are not liable for any academic, financial, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or any content it generates.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. Upon deletion, all cloud data (account information, transcripts) is permanently removed within 30 days. On-device data (audio files, local transcripts) remains on your device until you manually delete it.
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time. For significant changes, we will provide reasonable notice. If the Service is discontinued, we will give users adequate time to export their data.
When the Service is provided to a school, university, or other organization under a separate written agreement, that agreement governs in case of conflict with these Terms. For institutional customers we will, on request:
Contact support@lecsy.app for institutional inquiries.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California.
